At Marin Preparatory School we believe that children learn best by doing, not by merely being told what to do.  Our unique hands on, project based approach to education provides a challenging and engaging learning experience for all our students.  Guided by outstanding teachers, our students are encouraged to share their first hand knowledge with peers.  They are asked to present the results of their work and in doing so, make a better connection with the “how” and the “why.”  When it comes to teaching, many schools have followed the philosophies of mass education, established in a different era, and with a different need and focus.  Schools have treated a child’s mind as an empty vessel which needed to be filled.  They have told them how to do something, but didn’t let them have the experience of doing it.  In today’s high tech world, where information is only a few key strokes away, learning through experience and fully understanding the concepts that support, initiate, or conclude is more important than ever.
