Esta Semana en K3/This Week in Kindergarten 3

¡Hola!  This week we will begin our unit on animal habitats/hábitats de los animales! We will brainstorm habitats as a class (such as: rainforests, swamps and the ocean) and select several to focus on throughout the month. We will also work on a classroom Kindness Quilt, and talk community service ideas.  In math we will re-visit subtraction, and work with playing cards/naipe. In writer’s workshop we will begin our unit on “Procedures and Reports,” and will continue with blends and digraphs. On Tuesday we will have a special presentation from Eleanor and her mom on tea! Our letter of the week will be C, our number of the week will be 18 and our Star of the Week/Estrella de la Semana will be Eleanor!

Bringing the lessons home this week:

• Subtraction/Restar. Please help your child with a subtraction activity.
• Animals/Animales. This week I will ask children to pull a Spanish-speaking country out of a hat. For homework, they will choose one animal from this country to focus on for our animal habitat study. They will be creating an art project related to this animal for a display at the SFO Airport!
• Independent Word Work. This week I will send home an “Explode the Code” reading/writing activity packet for children to work on independently.
• I will send a hard copy of this homework assignment home on Tuesday, please keep your eye open for it in la carpeta (the folder)!
